Hi, I’m Alicia! A Canadian Certified Counsellor and Registered Social Worker. I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, heard, and empowered in their mental health journey. I work from a person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed lens, and I believe that everyone has the ability to create meaningful change in their lives.

I love supporting teens and young adults as they navigate life transitions, manage anxiety and stress, build confidence, and explore their identity and goals. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of your next steps, I’m here to help you move forward with curiosity and compassion.

In sessions, I draw from a variety of approaches depending on what best supports your needs — including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based practices, and Self-Regulation Therapy. I always aim to tailor my approach to fit you as a unique individual. Don’t like an approach? Let’s try another one together. My work often focuses on areas like anxiety, self-esteem, academic or career stress, trauma, and life transitions — particularly for teens and young adults who are trying to figure out who they are and where they want to go.

Outside of the counselling room, I’m someone who recharges by spending time in nature, reading a good novel, or catching up with friends and family. I love staying active and after work, you can usually find me at the gym or on a walk, but I’ve recently tried Pilates and have been challenged by that. I’m also a big fan of travel and exploring new places — even if it’s just a cozy local bookstore or a new walking trail.

I’ve spent time around the world and find so much joy in learning about other cultures and languages. Staying grounded and connected in my own life helps me show up fully for the people I support.

I graduated from City University of Seattle in 2022 with a Master of Counselling Degree, and I also have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Alberta. I am in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.

I am here for my clients to provide them with a non-judgmental, safe space to have a voice. Using empathy, genuine concern, and unconditional positive regard, I join my clients as they look inward and attune to their physiology, notice their thoughts, and welcome/accept their emotions. Increased self-awareness and insights from therapy work can significantly help clients identify their values and their authentic selves, which, in turn, can direct them towards increased meaning and fulfillment in their lives.

Hi, I am Laura! I am a Registered Psychologist with a PhD in School and Clinical Psychology. I have specialized training in therapy as well as psycho-educational assessment. In addition to my work as a practitioner, I am a full-time faculty member in the Department of Psychology at MacEwan University where I teach about psychology and assessments.

We all have the capacity to stray from our authentic selves, sometimes to gain approval or acceptance from others, or because our worth is tied to something outside of us. The further we shift from our truest selves, the more we see issues like anxiety and depression arise. I understand that seeking counselling and discussing your concerns with a stranger can be very intimidating. There are times in our lives, however, when this may not only be helpful, but even necessary. My goal is to help you rediscover your authentic self and to find the courage to begin living from a place of truth.

I believe that individuals hold, within themselves, the power to change their circumstances. My goal is to provide the right environment to encourage that growth and development.

Over the past 15 years, I have acquired education, training, and experience in working collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their personal goals. I practice within a person-centered framework and focus on creating an environment where my client feels safe and unconditionally accepted, so they may begin to live more authentically.

At Thrive, I am excited to be offering a variety of assessments for youth, children and young adults on a part time basis.

I would be honoured to support you in your journey of finding and accepting your truest self.

I am a Mental Health Therapist, completing my Master’s in counselling psychology. While I complete my Master’s, I work under the supervision of a licensed therapist. My previous experience includes working with kids, teens, and parents. My goal is to create an environment where you feel valued, safe, and empowered to explore whatever is on your mind. You are in the driver’s seat!

My philosophy is to approach mental health from a holistic perspective, including the mind, body, environment, social context, and culture in which an individual situates themselves. I also believe that therapy should be a collaborative process in which both the therapist and client are actively involved. There are many elements that make up who we are, and I believe that all of these contribute to our strengths and challenges. I welcome individuals from all cultures, genders, and sexual identities.

The areas I work in include friend and family relationships, ADHD, conflict resolution and problem solving, anxiety, depression, and body image.

Hi, I’m Tania! I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. I offer a relatable, empathetic, and warm approach in therapy. I like to provide psychoeducation on emotion regulation, habit formation, and that complicated thing we call the brain. I believe the therapeutic bond between a client and their therapist is one of the most important factors in therapy, so I strive to provide a safe and comfortable space where youth can truly be themselves. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative therapy, and I find this mix of approaches helps address both the scientific and artsy parts of our brain. Of course, no approach is one-size-fits-all, so this is something I will work on together with my client to tailor therapy to their best fit.

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology. I feel grateful to have worked with youth and young adults across diverse cultures and developmental stages. From this, I have found that my ultimate goal is to provide compassionate support to clients while encouraging you to view yourself with greater acceptance and self-confidence. I recognize that our teenage years come with unique experiences that shape who we are.

Therefore, I enjoy working with youth and young adults in helping them explore their identity, build self-esteem, manage emotions, and foster healthy relationships and a positive body image. I am also passionate about working with all types of anxiety symptoms, whether it is tied to stress, perfectionism, social skills, life transitions or ADHD symptoms. In my values, I believe each person has a unique and valuable story to tell, and my role is to empower you to discover those strengths.

I acknowledge that exploring these topics can be a vulnerable experience. Thus, I prioritize developing an accepting, warm and friendly space to work together at a pace that feels right for you. In doing so, I use multiple evidence-based therapies that I personalize to your unique goals.

Some of these approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy. If it is an interest of yours, I also enjoy incorporating art and creativity into our sessions.

NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS Life can be hard - I don’t need to tell you that, it’s a universal truth. What I have learned though is that everyone needs a “helper” sometimes, and I love that I can fill that role for teens! I have been a registered psychologist for over 10 years, and have worked in the mental health field much longer. My passion is working with teens and young adults to provide support during a time in life where big emotions reign supreme. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to explore life challenges, self, and relationships with a focus on making positive shifts to live a more authentic life.

Some of the many issues I work with are anxiety, depression, communication skills, OCD, perfectionism, stress management, self-care, healthy friendships, boundaries, values identification, career exploration & identity. My approach differs for each person who walks through my door - it would be ridiculous of me to assume that people are exactly the same. Some general approaches that align with my values are CBT, DBT, ACT, strengths-based, solution-focused, family systems, and mindfulness.

I have some other important roles in my life too. I go by the name of mom/mama/mommy/bro/bruh to a couple of active, busy, school-aged kids, and I have a big orange cat named Buster Moon. I’m pretty passionate about teaching psychology as well, so when I’m not in the counselling office, you’ll find me working with university students in several psychology courses at Athabasca University. I also really love coffee, distance running, podcasts, and hydroponic gardening.

Spoiler alert - I am also an imperfect human with an imperfect life. Some people think therapists are people who live perfect lives with perfect relationships, perfect self-care, perfect families… blah, blah, blah… simply not true. Just another human being trying to live an authentic life over here, and I hope to help you live yours.
